The search system on this site has just undergone a lot of big changes. It is now much more efficient, and searches for articles based on their relevance to your enquiry instead of by the date they were posted.
At the moment we haven’t had the time to get it all to look just the way we would like it, but it is a work in progress.
The icons that you see on the right hand side of each post are links to social bookmarking services.
The internet is evolving into a place where you don’t just read and watch the content, but take an active part in shaping it, and social bookmarking sites like Delicious and Digg are your way to recommend the content on this site to others.
If you haven’t used them before then either just click a link and see where you go, or you could watch this excellent video which explains it all in simple plain English.
What is johnonfood?
johnonfood.com is a website designed and written by John (see below), because he couldn’t find a food reference anywhere that answered all of the questions he had about food. For more information see the about page.
Who is this John?
The designer and principal writer of this site. Again, see the about page.
Do you try the things you post on the site, or are the recipes just copied from books?
If it is on this site, then it has been tried and tested, probably messed up and tried again until I’m happy with it.
Can you give me a recipe for X?
Probably. If we don’t know one, then we’ll either research or invent one. Send any requests by email to John
Why do you have advertising on the website?
It’s expensive to run, both in terms of server, bandwidth, etc. and in terms of the time spent working on it. We would really much prefer to have it advertising free, but unless someone wants to donate a large sum of money, it is unlikely to happen.
There aren’t many frequently asked questions at the moment, but we are happy to answer any questions that you do have.
Email them to john@johnonfood.com, and we will send you a reply by email as well as adding the question to this page if other people would find the answer useful.
